Legs Talk: Let Your Legs Do The Talking

Legs Talk: Let Your Legs Do The Talking By: D.E. Boone

From the Publisher:

Inspired by the edgier side of dating, Legs Talk employs comical banter and classic black and white photos, to illustrate the hilarious accounts of a doomed relationship.

I LOVED this gift-book and it gets a SOLID FIVE-STAR TIARA RATING here at Royal Reviews! Which Means - This Book Lives Happily Ever After On MY Bookshelf

My thoughts and Review:

"You break it you buy it!"

How many times has the man you thought of as "the one" ended up just being a number in your little black book? From page one this book had me on my toes! It's like a girl's night in all packed in one adorable book! D.E. Boone is original and refreshing and tells it like it is! This book is something we all could use at some point in our life, and that is a fact.

Heart-broken? We've all been and well all know the story and how we got there. It's timeless and I'd go as far to say a "classic" in it's own right. But you know what? I want to tell it single women, when we look for a man, we dress-up, use our sensuality and "walk" with it so to say. There she is minding her own business, having a little "retail therapy" (which we all need by the way) and here he comes, could it be..Mr. Right? or should we say Mr. Right Now? I love a good story especially one I've lived through and can relate to one hundred percent! But when it's told a way so ingenious, edgy, and different that I've never seen it before, I am blown away! "Legs Talk: Let your Legs Do the Talking", is THAT book. We may know the story, but we certainly have never seen it narrated like this.

A tale of girl meets guy, falls for guy, finds out he's not what he said he was, disappoints, disappears, reappears, girl gives him another chance only to be hurt again ...then what? We all swear the next one will be normal! Except for one thing, as normal as this story sounds, it's anything but! This beautiful black and white picture book is told from the waist down. That's right, this book is narrated by a par of sexy, gorgeous and sensuous legs.

Have you ever been looking for that perfect gift book for a girl friend who just got dumped by the man of her dreams? Or maybe things just didn't work out between the two of them. And all you want is a little something to stop her from moping around and eating your entire pint of Ben and Jerry's? So what do you do? You rush out to the local bookstore and all you find sitting on the shelves are the "I'm so very sorry" books. Now to me ladies, in most cases, and even if you don't find out until later on, it's a blessing in disguise! So, why not celebrate? This book is how we as women can hold all the cards! We are sexy beings with intelligence, thoughts and feelings and isn't it about time we started to get treated like it?

So go put on your high heels and "walk that walk" because you're a woman and thanks to this book, you'll celebrate it! Nancy Sinatra didn't hit Number One in 1966 with "These Boots Were Made for Walkin'" for nothing! Right?

Thank you Mr. Boone, I totally got a kick out of this book and believe me, you will too!

***GIVE-A-WAY Notice: I will be GIVING AWAY COPY of D.E. Boone's "Legs Talk: Let Your Legs Do The Talking" this week! Hopefully, in the near future we can get Mrs. Boone in here for an interview as well, which would be great! This book give-a-way is made possible by Mrs. Boone hereself because she was so generous to send me two books. ONE for me and ONE to share! Yes, I did learn that from my mom, but if I only got one of would've gone out the window! : ) The Lucky Winner will be posted at the end of the week. So, if you'd like this adorable little gift book, just leave a comment and you've got your chance!

Good Luck & Have Fun!!

That's all for now and Thank You for stopping by!

May 20, 2008

OK everyone for my FOURTH post today, I promised that I would make a very special announcement for our very good friend, AUTHOR SANDY PATSY.

Ever since Amy and Mrs. Patsy met, they have been very close. They met while planning a review of her book and an interview! Needless to say, they've kept in touch almost everyday since! It's true! They stayed tight, and have told each other all sorts of things. She's been nice, caring, sweet and protective of Amy. Not to mention generous. If you know Mrs. Patsy, you know how she is. This is what she wanted me to say for her. (It says it on her blog too and on the Author Island Author Blog too).

I'm not sure EXACTLY ALL the specifics or things we may add on later, but for now, here's what we have. As most of you know by now, Amy is in the hospital fighting as hard as she can against a very horrible disease that touches so many lives. THIS IS PERSONAL, because she's MY very BEST FRIEND! I see her each day laying in that bed not looking a thing like herself. She pretends to be happy for all of us and it hurts me because I know this and I can't tell her that right now. I miss when she's genuinely happy, which is ALL THE TIME! The doctors are talking about two very big things now that she's had her first surgery. The first is that she is not moving her left leg especially on her own and the other one isn't as bad but not moving on it's own normally either, which could mean she would lose that ability. She is also facing an infection, which could mean amputation which would just crush her and I can't even imagine being in her position. So please just think about what Mrs. Patsy would like to do and her reasons why.

This is what it is. Amy's birthday is JUNE 15th, which is her father's birthday as well and father's day. Her son's birthday is a week and a day later on the 23rd. And last year she was in the hospital from MAY TO SEPTEMBER! Can you imagine that much time in such a horrible place. She doesn't like the way it smells and you know what her most vivid memory is? Being rushed to the O.R. and looking up seeing those long lights flashing by. She will tell you that story and the hair on the back of your neck will stand up. I know you want to know why I keep going off on a tangent and what this has to do with her birthday and I do apologize but I'm hurt. I'm so very hurt. Not to mention ANGRY and ANGRY with the world. My faith and hers have been tested many times along with her family's and her son, her ONLY son's.

Sandy Patsy found it in her heart to want to make Amy's birthday a very happy one for her even though she is in the hospital. SO Dawn, Kim, Mrs. Patsy and I have started a Birthday Box for her. We hope that by a few days before her birthday it is filled with things for her birthday. It doesn't have to be something huge, just something that will let her know that you care about her and love her as well. I don't care if you write it on a scrap of notebook paper and send it, ANYTHING will do. You may send a gift, a card, a note, a gift certificate or you may contact any one of us if you'd like. PLEASE KNOW YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS. It's just something sweet for Amy's long and dark road ahead of her.

Mrs. Patsy is of great help and will do what she can for you. She's also trying to get as many author's involved as possible. The following are the important email addresses you need to know and then I will post links to blogs. You can leave comments here as well. AND because I'd like this to get ALL OVER the blog-o-sphere, I think I'm going to offer a prize for the person with the most entries. How you'll get entries yet, I'm not sure. But, I like this idea. Please POST ABOUT THIS ON YOUR BLOG and write a note back here saying that you did it. If someone doesn't have a blog or says "Trish" sent me here to leave a comment...and TRISH has posted this on her blog, than that is TWO ENTRIES for TRISH. IF TRISH also posts this on her MYSPACE or any other page she has, than that's another entry for TRISH. (sorry Trish I hope you don't mind me using you as an example) I'm thinking the winner will get something like a gift card to Amazon or something like that but I will discuss that with Mrs. Patsy as well and post more about it later. I will take ideas on how to get names in for more and more entries (Dewey, I heard you're excellent at this. And I apologize that I haven't been able to Weekly Geeks. I know Amy was excited about it). So, we'll figure out something for the person who helps us spread the news. Unless you'd like to do it out of the goodness of your heart, and then that's up to you : ) But PLEASE try to make a little note of this post on your blog or leave it on the side up until the 12th of June or so to make people aware. OOPPSS! DEWEY...I just reread this and it makes it sound like I want you to coordinate this thing. With all the "yous". The ONLY part I questioned for you would be maybe coming up with a way for each person to earn points toward a gift because after reading your blog, you have the most amazing ideas, so I HOPE this clears that up! I do apologize. OF COURSE if you can't think of anything at all, don't worry about it. It was just a suggestion that popped into my head.

Email addresses are as follows:

Amy's ~ which we check daily is IAmHiMaintenance at aol dot com

Vanessa ~ Vanessa dot Wrenn at Yahoo dot com

Kim ~ LilkimCohen at Yahoo dot com

Dawn ~ Dawn dot Kessler at Yahoo dot com

Mrs. Sandy Patsy ~ SandyEllenPatsy at Aol dot com

I hope those help you.

If you would rather LINK your POST to SANDY PATSY's BLOG, That's fine. I am Pretty Sure it's alright if you LINK you POST to the AUTHOR ISLAND AUTHOR BLOG as well. I am going to give you every link you will need as well.

I know that Trish did just ask you to send Amy a card for her box, but as a special favor, Mrs. Patsy asked me to do this for Amy and since she has done so much for me, I would never say no to her AND I think this is a great idea with plenty of time. If you don't want to send things through the mail, you can send an e-card or e-certificate to her email address and Sandy will have the box sent for you all. I have to work like crazy these next few weeks coming up. I work nights and Dawn and Kim work Days. Kim has two boys so this is tough that's why we're going to catch up when we can. Please leave posts here in the comments section and you can leave them on any of the spaces for comments on the blogs I left for you above. If you could maybe make a simple reminder weekly within one of your posts, that will help BIG-TIME! Let's not just post this and say "OK I'm done." Alright? Thank you for taking the time to listen to this message that Sandy so wanted you to hear! I t was important to get out. Amy went through something really unnecessary right before she went into the hospital and Sandy made sure that it was made right, even though it wasn't her place! She deserves a lot of credit!

Mrs. Patsy MAY be the easiest to get in contact with, so you may want to try her first. I will try to answer you as quickly as possible.

Lastly, I'd like to thank you all for all of your support, interest, kindness, caring, loving, sweetness and just being the WONDERFUL PEOPLE YOU ARE. Also, thank you again to all that participated with Trish's blog post. I would like to have some more traffic through here, so let's just see what we can do for Amy ... she's be FIRST on the list for anyone else! I've known her for TWENTY YEARS and I KNOW this to be TRUE! Let's make this a HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR AMY ~ SO Don't forget to send your PRAYERS!

God Bless,

Vanessa, Mrs. Sandy Patsy, Dawn and Kim

Five Tiaras ~ This Book Will Live Happily Ever After On My Bookshelf!

This collection of poetry is both heartwarming and full of memories.

My thoughts and Review:

"Family bond, the glue that holds us together".

Within the pages of this adorable book I found my family and if you look close enough, I'm sure you'll find yours as well.

When I think of families, especially mine, I think of memories. Memories hold the key to who we are, how we grow and what we become. Not every memory is one that you look back at fondly, that's a given and how life is. But then there are those memories that will make you laugh so hard you'll cry! And hey, if you can't laugh at yourself, who CAN you laugh at? Some memories are shared only between friends and some are dreams of what we want to be, do or love. To me, families and memories go hand and hand.

So who were you? The scared younger sibling or the older much more "sophisticated and mature" one that tormented the younger about monsters in the closet or under the bed? Children will get into trouble and it's usually because curiosity killed the cat or "the dog" in the case of this book! I know it isn't just my mother that used to say this so "Eyes in the backs of our heads" will have you laughing louder than you thought you would sitting alone with this book. One of the greatest gifts we get in life is our parents and the bond created between us. As much as we don't want to hear this as teenagers growing up and finding ourselves, most of the time they were right and did know best. But, just to make yourself feel better, one of my favorite poems in the book, "Whatever!" will help you remember when you knew it all and they were just so wrong about everyone and everything.

Children are our future and the elderly our link to the past, a time where life was a much simpler place. We should honor them, help them, and do as they wish! Right? After you read these poems you'll have to wonder if they do things because they can, are still laughing inside and getting a chance to live their second childhood! What is better than that? The respect of an adult but to live your youth all over again.

Young love and dreams that happen in life that make us look back years later only to wonder "What if?" are also part of this wonderful collection. Times when we have to make important live altering decisions are in this book as well. You'll remember your own and the people that you turned to for wisdom when you couldn't decide yourself. Even though I cried, I read several of these poems more than once, "Remembering Grandma" was one of them. Loosing both of my grandmothers at an early age always affected me personally, so this helped me bring them back, if even for just a little while. As stated in the beginning, not only happy times are written about in this book. Poems such as "Valentine's Eve" and "Blame it on someone else" discuss some of the problems facing society today. Other memorable ones are "Will anybody ever love me" , "Jane Doe" and "A Pretty Dress",

Mrs. Chessor and Mrs. Blankenship are a mother and daughter team that write from the heart. They give you their family and their memories on a silver platter. You will laugh, cry and say "That happened to YOU too?" This unique collection of poetry has something for everyone, something that will make you remember a time in your own life and something that will make you want to read it again and again. I highly recommend this book of poetry that will always have a special place on my bookshelf.

If you enjoy this collection of poetry, you might want to also read S.L. Chessor's debut book written in memory of her late father entitled "My Tongue Fell Out.

***GIVE-A-WAY Notice: I will be GIVING AWAY an AUTOGRAPHED COPY of S.L. Chessor and C.L. Blankenship's BOOK!! If you are interested, please leave me a comment, in the comments section. Mrs. Chessor has been offered an opportunity for an interview but I am unsure yet but will let you know just as soon as I do! Winner will be posted at the end of the week.

Good Luck & Have Fun!!

That's all for now and Thank You for stopping by!

And The Award Goes To...

That's Right! Amy's Blog won one of J.Kaye's Blogger Awards! You can find the post about it (and you'll all be very proud of me for being able to do this OR you SHOULD be anyway) right here:J. Kaye's Book Blog: Blog Awards! Not bad huh? AND it only took me about 3 weeks to learn that one too! Go ME!

Oh right, this is about AMY and HER BE-U-TEE-FULL BLOG. The criteria to be part of this award is pretty steep too. There are five points that it must meet. Which means we are going to have to be on our toes to keep up until THE PRINCESS herself is back to take over. And the points are:

  • Fun Place to Visit

  • Cool Reviews

  • Neat Graphics/Photos

  • Unique

  • Fun Place to Visit

Now, if you ever knew just how shy Amy is in person, you'd laugh to know she could even keep up her blog! So, this is quite an honor for her. Trust me, I do know! So a BIG THANK YOU to J.Kay for the award. which I will put up right here in the middle of the post for now, until I know how to get it to stay on the side!

I encourage you all to stop by J.Kaye's book blog! She's got a lot going on over there herself! I'm sure it gets a FIVE CROWN RATING from AMY any day of the week! J.Kaye has cool reviews/interviews, raffles, Maxine and challenges up the ying-yang (Amy is going to kill me for using this language in the castle...she is). SO JUST ENJOY IT WHILE YA' CAN. 'Cuz when she's back - OH this is all deleted fo' sho'!

While we're on the subject of my most favoritest friend, who I will update you on in the next post, there will probably be three more today and this is already the second, I just have to do this for her. We miss her so much and this is important to her/therefore it's important to us.

Since we can't figure out her password yet and we've all tried so many things, we can not get a hold of all reviews, interviews and everything else of importance. She even reviews for a few online sites that I'm trying to forward reviews to. I feel so worthless and then when we see her, it's a feeling of being helpless. So, as I was saying, since we can't find all the reviews, we'll do what we can and fill you in on how she's doing, plus try to get up some interviews and we think it will be fun to tell you funny/interesting stories about Amy that you do not know. I hope it's alright with all of you. We've just known her so long and this part of her is new to us so we're going to give you a part of her that's new to you. Fair? FAIR! Also, Amy offered to help a wonderful woman named Lisa advertise her Etsy shop here, so I'm going to try to get in touch with her and help her do that and also there is an author that has done so much for Amy that we're going to get her book posted or banner up for advertisement as well and her name is Sandy Patsy. I'm sure you remember her from her review. We were planning an interview with her as well, but I think she wants to wait until Amy gets back and that's fine with the three of us.

Thank you again J.Kaye for such an honor. You really are a great friend to Amy and anyone that takes care of her is so special in our book. Although, we may have to stop by your blog as well, we want a chance at your wonderful raffles and serious reviews you do. If you haven't seen her review system, you should stop by. It's really unique. On top of that, she's doing every challenge under the sun, I have know idea how she has time for it all. It really is a great blog! J.Kaye, if we have any questions, would you mind us stopping by? You can answer in the comments . In turn, we'd really like to pass this type of blog award on to others, so we'll see what we can do!

The last thing for this post is this...for the last week, we've been lurking, visiting Amy's friends on their blogs and we have to say what a great place to be! You all have exciting, different and unique topics and blogs! We really know now why Amy loves this so. She does have quite a few books that she's gotten in and they are at the hospital with her. It's what she calls her "Comfort Reading" and she started writing reviews about eight years ago just to give back to her favorite authors that had gotten her through some serious tough times medically. In return, she will do just about anything to be part of a book that she loves success. We can't wait for her to be better. We miss our weekends together and our dinners out at least once a week. Get well my dear dear friend. I LOVE YOU!

I think that's all for now from us.

Respectfully - Your Resident Royal Reviewers

Vanessa, Kim and Dawn

Look Again

Kim, Dawn and I are trying to get back in the swing of things (for Amy) so she has less to worry about when she does come back, which we unfortunately know will not be for quite some time. This will be a very long road for her, but we all have faith and so do many of you because we've heard it. Thank you again for that by the way. During the upcoming weeks and month, when Amy can help us with the writing of these, she will, until then, I guess you're just stuck with us! We can only hope you love us as much as you love Amy.

The main point to this post is this, we are trying to get up some new reviews, figure out her password to where most of the new ones are and then get them posted and to the authors that are patiently waiting for these. Also, we would like to get out the books and prizes that she owes to a few of you for the give-a-ways that you participated in. I also found an email to J.Kaye and I know that she promised a book to you as well. I was going to post on your blog to let you know about this, but I didn't want to interrupt what you have going on over there and I thought maybe you might see it easier here. We do know where your book is, and will have that out to you soon. I have to admit though, I kinda' did want to post it on your blog, because you have so many great books every weeks that I'd like to read! I really should get into this bloggin' thing for real!

The three of us now have names and profiles of our own where you may reach us if for some reason you don't want to write to us at Amy's email address. For those of you that do not have it, it is IAmHiMaintenance at aol dot com. Kim was going to put up a review for "Poodlums, Boogeymen and Booglers" by S.L. Chessor and C.L. Blankenship which was sent in graciously by Mrs. Chessor who is the daughter in this mother/daughter writing team. Two were actually sent, so one will be used as a give-a-way! And there really isn't much better than free books! Oh yeah, there is a POINT to ALL of this. Before we put up Amy's health update, a new review, PLUS a WONDERFUL thing being done by an AUTHOR in our blogging community - Sandy Patsy - POWER OF PUSSY: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO PRINCESS AMY ! (who doesn't want ANY PRAISE OR THANKS but is going to get it any way because she is one of the sweetest, kindest, nicest women I've ever met), for Amy along with a THANK YOU to TRISH - Urgent: I Need Your Help « Hey Lady! Whatcha Readin’? for what she's done (speaking of kind, nice, caring and wonderful), we noticed that we still have "The Tao of Fertility" and "Dream Lucky" both of these are Advanced Reader Copies that were sent directly to Amy through HarperC0llins.

Please post and continue to stop by and post your well wishes to AMY she will love to see them when she can and also while you are posing under this post, please let me know if you'd like "The Tao of Fertility" or "Dream Lucky". But, because you post here doesn't mean your name will be automatically entered into the give-a-way. If no one is interested in either of these books, I can still find them a good home, so it's alright. But I would rather offer them to Amy's blog readers first. I liked "Dream Lucky" but Amy didn't so one review is just that. ONE person's opinion. So, give these books a chance. Besides, Amy LOVED "The Tao of Fertility"!

So now that is all out of the way, on with our next post! I hope we're doing a good enough job. To tell you the truth, we're paranoid, we've been learning privately through a friend so we actually know how to do things on here now! Not a whole lot, but some!

Happy reading to all!

Respectfully- Your Resident Royalty Reviewers

I don't even know where to begin. The amount of letters that we have received about Amy and what she means to each of you has touched our hearts so much. Especially Amy's.

We've gotten notes, well wishes, e-cards and offers of help. All of which we appreciate so much! Amy wanted you all to know that she still needs her *COMFORT READING* it's giving her something to do other than thinking of what's going on. This is her main reason for reading and reviewing. When I told her of the notes we received regarding concern from authors and friends not wanting to bother her right now wth review requests or not wanting to "add to her problems", she said never, that would never be the case. She wants you to send anything that you need read and reviewed.

While she's awake, she's reading and visiting with family and friends. Her only complaint is that visiting hours just are just not long enough. She misses you all and can't wait to return. I also have received requests for Her hospital room number. She's been switched twice already and after her surgery (the first scheduled of a few), I will be happy to send anyone her room number and hospital information. You are all such caring, good-hearted and loving people! No wonder Amy loves her "book blogging community" so! (Those were her words, not ours).

We are trying our best to keep up with all of this, so, if you do not hear from us right away, try to be patient, we will get to you. I know this is hard when you are worried about someone.

On a separate note, TRISH, (I would add the link to your blog if I knew how...) I'm learning and will find out, promise. What you are doing for Amy left us all speechless, you are a truly remarkable woman. Your words rang true it IS nice to do something for someone you care about and IMPORTANT TO KNOW that they are LOVED and CARED ABOUT befor it's too late to say! Thank you TRISH we don't know what else to say. We have love and RESPECT for you. Also, to those of you participating, we are AMAZED at just how KIND you all are as well!

If you have no idea what we're talking about, please visit TRISH'S BLOG - It is listed on the RIGHT and it's where Amy has the list of Blogs that she visits. It's titled (by her) "Attending The Ball" ... HEY LADY! WHATCHA READIN'? belongs to TRISH, she is putting together a little "Care Package" for Amy...those of you that want to participate, please go to her blog and follow the directions, (but it is not something you MUST do) We know Amy and she will love you all anyway. TRISH, if you'd like to contact me, please do and I will help you ANY WAY I CAN! You have an amazing soul and a truly caring heart! What a wonderful thing you are doing. I know when Amy finds out, it will never be forgotten. We did not tell her, because we didn't want to ruin this surprise for her.

That's what we have for you today. Just a little news and a BIG THANK YOU! We'll keep in touch. Keep the letters and books coming! Words can't express how we feel, and we can't THANK YOU ENOUGH!

God Bless you all,

Sad News Regarding Amy's Health

Dear Publishers, Authors, and Friends:

On this day, I regret that I must share some very sad news with you. Amy, Park-Avenue Princess of Royal Reviews, has been admitted into the hospital. She isn't able to answer any emails or telephone calls personally at this time, so she asked that I, Vanessa, her friend of over twenty years to deliver this news and make you aware of what is going on at the present time.

I'm not sure I'll be able to deliver it with the style and cheer that Amy could, but I certainly will try!

I want each and every one of you to know that if you have any review requests, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to either email here or to one of her private email addresses or . Your emails will be answered and review requests taken. Kim and I are going to do the best we can to keep this running as smoothly as possible while she is gone. We will be checking daily, the other address seems to have more personal emails to her, so if they can wait, we'd rather have her read them and get back to you herself. Also, if you don't want to post here in the comments, please send her an email, I'm sure she'd love to know that you are thinking of her and that you are keeping her in your prayers. She is scared and really could use some cheering up.

Emails that request reviews, have personal messages or concerns that need to be addressed by her, will certainly be passed along. I plan to see her at least four times a week, and Kim (our other very good friend) will be visiting as well. Calls are made to her room daily and someone in her family is there all the time.

I do ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers and as soon as she can answer you herself, I know that she will. Amy is dedicated to each and every one of you and loves what she does. I know that she wishes you all success and will do anything to help.

The doctor's do not think that this will be a short stay. As some of you may know, Amy has been battling cancer for the past 14 years total. The type of cancer she has is rare and even rarer in women. She has malignant tumors and they're called Sarcomas. Ewing Sarcomas would be the name of the correct diagnoses.

It saddens all of us close to her that she is spending more time back in the hospital, including her Mother's Day.

We had to consult with her quite a bit before writing this letter to all of you - sharing this very personal information. Out of all the changes that were made, one thing remained constant and that was she wanted to share this information about her and her condition with all of you.

There are so many reviews that are written and waiting to be posted. (I would say more than fifteen to twenty). I apologize for being so far behind, but I know how meticulous she is about how she sets up her reviews. I need to find everything on her computer to get them posted. So, if you could be a little patient with me, I would be grateful. Once I'm in the swing of things, the give-a-ways will continue and I will update as much as possible (both with her reviews and her health).

Do not feel that you shouldn't send a request at this time. We're here to help.Thank you in advance for your kind courtesy and cooperation and I look forward to working with you.

Take Care,
