I am The Dutchess, The Princess's blogging BFFs. Since she has been so ill and unable to post often I have decided to help out around here and make sure all of you loyal followers get the attention you deserve. Don't get me wrong, The Princess really wishes she could be here more often for you but it is just too much sometimes. My first post, besides introducing myself is to review and giveaway the book Viola In Reel Life.

Synopsis:
I'm marooned.
Abandoned.
Left to rot in boarding school . . .
Viola doesn't want to go to boarding school, but somehow she ends up at an all-girls school in South Bend, Indiana, far, far away from her home in Brooklyn, New York. Now Viola is stuck for a whole year in the sherbet-colored sweater capital of the world.
Ick.
There's no way Viola's going to survive the year—especially since she has to replace her best friend Andrew with three new roommates who, disturbingly, actually seem to like it there. She resorts to viewing the world (and hiding) behind the lens of her video camera.
Boarding school, though, and her roommates and even the Midwest are nothing like she thought they would be, and soon Viola realizes she may be in for the most incredible year of her life.
But first she has to put the camera down and let the world in.
What did I think?




I absolutely LOVED this book, Viola was such a real character, she had faults and opinions and she was smart. I am of the opinion that many YA books today make the characters too silly and unrealistic. Not this book, Viola and her three roommates were smart and thoughtful and their problems were well planned. There was a slight paranormal touch to the book too, which was a pleasant surprise. In no way is it a paranormal book, though. It is a book about friendship, fist kisses, family drama and learning to trust people. Which is something that not only young adults can work on. Thanks to the fine folks at Harper Teen, The Princess and I have been lucky enough to have a copy of this book to giveaway.
