Mundane Monday

As you can see, I haven't done anything of extrene excitement today. As a matter of fact, I just dragged myself out of bed a little while ago. You know, this cold is really just kicking my butt!!

I'm most likely going to just eat some dinner, take a bubble bath and read (in the tub, of course). Oh that sounds SOOOO good.

THEN I'll be back to announce MY FIRST GIVE-A-WAY to celebrate the warm welcome that I've gotten from our little (maybe not so little) Book-Blogging Community. I really mean it! I LOVE this group of people! I mean sure, I have some favorites and yes, I may visit some blogs more than others... BUT, everyone is just so genuine, friendly and generous that I actually spend time going through them all and that takes away from my actual "read-a-book time" .... and you know, I LOVE IT! I don't mind one bit.

So this GIVE-A-WAY is for YOU, my new Book Blogging Buddies. : ) If you link MY blog to yours, and spread the word, I will give you two entries in the GIVE-A-WAY. My blog is small and I just started out, so I'd like more people to come and visit and comment. It would be really great!

I'm off to eat and bubble-it-up! But, I'll be back with my next, all IMPORTANT POST!

MERRY MUNDANE MONDAY!

Random Thoughts

Hi all : )

It's pretty late on Saturday night (whoops! Sunday Morning), and I just had some "random thoughts". I'll share them, although I can't guarantee you'll walk away any smarter! lol

Since I've started blogging >Achooo< UGh I have an awful cold......I've met some pretty wonderful and generous people in our little "book blogging community". I'm sure you all know who you are and I'm really quite impressed with the kindess and generosity that is shown.

Normally you hear about all the bad things that go on in cyberspace. (I know there IS a lot of it that goes on as well) Is our little group the exception to the rule? Or are we in the majority? Either way, I'm still amazed and perfectly happy with all of my new friends. They've opened up a new world for me and inspired me to keep my own blog going (which I never thought possible) I will start a list over on the side as soon as I figure out how. I think it's important to support these wonderful people that make reading and blogging so much fun!

I review myself. I don't usually post on my blog (obviously) but, maybe I'll start or at least have the book I'm reading and a little bit about it here on the site.

Also, I hear that BYFAB Week is coming up...So, that's going to be MY FIRST CONTEST. It's going to start on MONDAY and I'll post about it then...I'm thinking that I will choose a winner on Sunday of that week. But, who knows? I'm sure I'll change my mind and the "RULES" before then! This is going to be exciting for me! I'd like to give back something for all of the kindness, support and not to mention the generosity that I've gotten in just this short time. : )

So, STAY TUNED for my FIRST CONTEST that surely won't be my last!

Here are a few things that you SHOULD know:

The PRINCESS makes the RULES and HER DECISION is FINAL

The contest will be something easy...PROMISE

YOU have to be willing to send ME your address so that you may collect your prize!

That's all for now ... It MUST be getting late here on the East Coast!

A Book and A Look

Good thing I've met some new cyber-friends...I don't think I'd have a whole lot to talk about if I didn't. I guess my life just isn't that interesting after all (LOL I'm kidding). But I did post and promise that I would put up a new contest from Care’s Online Book Club! She's giving away a "Book and A Look"...What's that you ask? Well, why don't you travel on over to her blog and find out? You have nothing to lose and a $50 + prize to gain!

This IS her FIRST give-a-way. You know, I'm starting to see a trend here...

I think this princess may have to think up a ROYAL give-a-way of her own! Come back and see...

Cover Up! (Booking Thru Thursday!!)

Well, I'm keeping my promise about keeping up with the blogging! But I really have to say thanks to my other blogging friends that are making it SO easy!

Today is "Booking Through Thursday" over on Hey Lady! Whatcha Readin’?, which is Trish's blog. Ok, the question this week is:

While acknowledging that we can’t judge books by their covers, how much does the design of a book affect your reading enjoyment? Hardcover vs. softcover? Trade paperback vs. mass market paperback? Font? Illustrations? Etc.?

I have to say that I definitely LOVE cover art. Honestly, it does influence what I buy when I'm out looking for new books or authors at a bookstore. I'll pick up covers that "speak" to me more than not. That is, unless the book was highly recommended by a friend. Then I'll read it regardless. I honestly believe that the cover should summarize what the book is about. I can't wait to get a new book home and start reading, I read it from cover to cover and the first and last thing I do is look at the covers. I analyze what about the story made them choose or decide on a certain cover.

When it comes to hardcover or soft? My personal favorite is hardcover, there's nothing like opening a crisp brand-new hardcover book. The way the paper feels, the way it smells, it's just an all-around good feeling.

Trade vs. Mass paperbacks is a pretty easy decision for me as well. I would prefer trade ... only because they are a little bigger, easier to hold, nicer art work, not usually as many produced as the mass and the paper is usually better. So, if it's a softcover that I want for keeps and not just a quick book I'm going to pass around or read on the plane, it's going to be trade.

I always love nice paper in books. It feels nice and it smells nice. Also, it usually makes for a better bound book. I hate when they are too tightly bound.

Font doesn't matter to me and neither does size. Illustrations may add beauty to a book, but they are definitely not needed, unless it's one of my art, shoe or fashion books. Those I just treasure. lol.

So that's just me. What about you?

Thanks for stoppin' by!

Keeping up with the BLOGGING

Is my work NEVER done? Ok, I apologize for not keeping up with my blog : ( I said that it would be good for me, a thing I "should do", and since I journal, review and read all the time, it shouldn't be that hard for me to do....yeah, right! I've been SO sick lately and haven't been able to do a thing. I promise to try harder. And I have been visiting some really GREAT blogs.

One being J. Kaye's Book Blog! She's like a wonder woman....she does it all, reads, reviews, writes, takes care of her family and keeps up with HER blog...it's really great. You should check it out. : ) I was glad that I did!

That's all for now
