Books, Blabber & Being Me

It seems like forever since I've posted! I feel like I have a lifetime of things to catch up on and share with you and in part, it's true. I know... I know.. it's taking me a while to post lately and I do apologize! Will you forgive me if I say I have a really important reason AND it's true?

I miss my site, reviews, books, products and most of all, I miss all of you (my blogging friends). I can't Thank you for all of you that have taken the time to check up on me, write to me, send cards and letters, etc. I appreciate it more than you know! 

I have quite a few changes that I need to make for a while. For those of you that do not know, I am in the hospital, I will be still running my contests and guest posts.  I'd like to get the site back to where it was.  I have quite a few authors that will be here with guest posts and giveaways, along with companies and their product giveaways.

I may, for the time being, need you to just pay attention to when winners are listed. I am going to *TRY* to still email each winner, but in the last post of "And the Winners Are", The Duchess kindly asked that to make it easier on me, if your name was listed, you email me at PrincessPrizes@Yahoo.com with your full name and address (to claim your prizes) MANY of you did not.  Sadly, some of them were really large prizes! 

I don't want to have to create a form of some sort where you put in your name, address and what you've done in the extras.  But, if I have to, I will. I can't keep drawing and redrawing winner's names.  I want the very first winner, the one that's worked hard, just as hard as the second winner chosen, to get their prize. OK?

Winner Worries!

Before I announce today's winner's, I feel that it's necessary for me to point out a few Giveaway Rules that are not being followed and believe it or not, it's caused more than five people to lose their prizes today. One was the Lizzy Bleu $50.00 Giveaway and I was forced to pick a new name! I really dislike doing this. First of all, it's hard enough to pick a winner without having to take it away.  I know what you're  thinking ... "Princess St." MUST be a ONE WAY! Not so! I have been accepting entries without saying a word for a long time now and I really don't think that I ask too much.  I also know you have questions and I'm going to answer them!  If what I write up in this post doesn't answer your question, or it is not clear, please feel free to comment below and I'll answer you ASAP!

Why did these individuals lose their prize? Good question and I do have the answers for you.  It all came about with the "Giveaway to Sell You Soul For.." which is being sponsored by the Very Generous Matthew Carter, author of "Liquid Soul"!  I started actually checking *If people were doing what they said they were doing in the entries and to my shock, some are not! Please only put what you are actually doing, otherwise, it will result in a prize forfeit.  Matthew actually brougt this to my attention while keeping track of points for the reader.  See, I was just assuming that everyone was being honest.  Not the case.  I DO understand that mistakes happen and that some of you (Blogger Followers) thought that you were following Publically and through Google Friend Connect.  This is the ONLY step that I require to win prizes here, and it's not that hard to click the button.

Why do I need you to follow? Here's something you may not know. Companies and even some small publishers will not work with you unless you have a certain number of followers or daily visits.  So, if you'd like me to keep having these giveaways (especially the big ones) , and I have a few biggies coming up for the Christmas season, then I ask you to PLEASE follow!  Visiting, Commenting and Having an Opinion are all big factors as well.  Back to other reasons why prizes were not able to be given - NO EMAIL, how am I going to contact you? I even went to some of the links and still no email. So, from now on, if you don't feel comfortable leaving your email address below, I want you to comment and then copy that comment and send it to me so that at least I have your email address.  I'm also working on having some sort of sheet that you can fill out.  But again, I need a simple email address. Other things that happened today....One person's number came up and in that post it said "I have your button on my blog!"  I go to check, not there! Again, if you just put what you do have, then you will be allowed to win! This person followed and had an email address!  I'm going to assume that they meant to put it on the blog AFTER they wrote it and then forgot.

I'm sorry if you think this is drastic, but with the large up-coming giveaways, I want the people that are really doing what they say they are doing to have a fair chance at winning!  Lastly, check the email address you leave me! Two came back and I'm guessing that they filled it out quickly and made a spelling error.  This is your email address! You should KNOW it!

Why did you start your blog? I started it for me... I didn't know there were others like me when I started. It was more of an online journal of what I had read. Like record keeping. I was so surprised when someone commented on my blog and when I linked to them... I found a whole new world! (I can almost here the words to that song in Disney's Aladdin movie.... "A Whole New World"

What is your favorite genre and/or genres? Currently I am really enjoying historical fiction, YA, and women's literature. It does change though!

Who is your favorite author? That is so tough.... there are authors I try not to miss like Jodi Piccoult and Harlan Coben... yet I read so much and enjoy so much I am not sure I could pick a fav.

What's your favorite book of all time? I have several favs but one I almost always recommend is Summerhouse by Jude Deveroux. Seriously - read it. And then let me know you read it and what you thought. The book is... magical.

Name & describe your blog features: I review books and have chats with authors. I enjoy doing giveaways, book related topics, and a few memes. Readers really seem to enjoy my Morning Menaderings which is basically me forst thing in the morning, "unplugged" - except for coffee! Morning Meanderings can be about my life, a book I found on another blog... anything.... I let the true me come out in those posts... they can be a bit crazy.

Tell my reader's a little bit about your review system Once I read a book I put my post up with the back cover info from the book, sometimes author info if I have it, and then I finish with my thoughts. I am very careful to not give away too much of the book... I want to create interest but not tell the story. I work to be fair and honest even if I did not enjoy the read. If I did not enjoy it I will let you know why. After the review I treat myself to 8 green M&M's and a diet pepsi.... j/k.... it's actually 9 green M&M's.

*giggles* I ONLY eat the Green ones.  I'm Lying...I'd Eat the ENTIRE package and let me tell you, COLOR is the LAST thing I think of while doing it! Yummy!

How is your blog unique from other blogs? I work hard to keep it current and a place people can go to read about not only the up and coming great books - but also some of the ones you may not have heard of. I read a wide variety of books from YA, mystery, fantasy, Christian and Christian fiction, memoirs and more so I think there is something for everyone.

How do you market your blog? What's your *Secret*?  I try to communicate on Book Blogs when I have time. I comment and visit others a lot, I use Twitter and occasionally Facebook.

Can you give us 3 tips about content? 1. I think good reviews are huge - I always tell new bloggers when they inquire about how to do a review to let the readers know how the book made you feel. That is huge for me. 2. The trick is to share about the book but do not give it away. I have read reviews where the reviewer gives away key points of the book that I would have enjoyed reading and discovering for myself.... dont do that! 3. Decide what your blog is going to be about and what you are hoping to get out of your blogging and make a list. Then decide how you are going to make that happen. Once you know your goals - stick to it and make them happen.

And what about 3 tips about blog promotion? 1. If you are looking for blog traffic - comment, comment, comment! When people comment on my blog and they have a blog as well, I always go visit them. A lot of bloggers do this. I make it a point to take time to read other blogs. I believe I have brought many loyal readers to my blog through comments and communication.... 2. If you do not Twitter... I reccomend you do. This is a great way to link to a giveaway you are having and build blogging relationships with other bloggers. 3. Stay current. You dont have to post several times a day - or even once a day.... but I would say try to stick to a minimum of 3 times a week. If your blog has the same post today as it did 2 weeks ago when someone reads it... readers may not come back.

*Opinions Wanted* and *Other Ramblings*

I've been a little confused lately and it has to do with many things. So, I'm going to turn to you, my readers for your opinions. After all, it's your opinions that matter (to me anyway). I'm thankful that you choose to read Park-Avenue Princess and without all of you... Well, I'd just be talking to myself...and to be quite honest, I do A LOT of that already. So, no need to really add to the dysfunction! (That's a post for another time...)

OK let me start of by saying that I am AMAZED that I have 300 followers! Again, I just noticed today and I have to give all of you a HUGE THANK YOU! Ironically, I also hit 300 Twitter Followers today SO that HUGE Giveaway I told you about is going to be a CELEBRATION of this! (But there's a little work involved in it too... I'll get to that in a minute). Seriously, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. This blog is MY VOICE to all of you and it's means of escape, friendship and fun for me. I appreciate each and every one of you! (I'll stop being sappy now...)

I have A LOT of giveaways and it's tough for me to wait for information. That's the hardest part, not getting information on time or having to draw another winner because of NO response. It also KILLS me because I know that person wants their prize AND if they are following, they're notified, they just aren't seeing it and I know first hand EMERGENCIES HAPPEN. So, to have someone miss out on a prize, I don't think is fair. But, I'm going to come-up with a giveaway policy that is going to be put into place permanently!

Something like that but I was going to have you add your name, address (yes, home address), email and how you wanted to enter ... (ie +5 twitter, +5 Post, +10 Button...etc.). But, I KNOW there is going to be some of you that don't want to add your home address and it won't go through without it. It's going to say error and to fill in the necessary boxes. Colossal Changes Here At The Castle

So, you're about to see A Lot more of ME! I've made a vow to try to renovate my entire blog! I know it's a lot of work, but I've been meaning to do it since I got sick and was in the hospital. Big Changes, Big Things...I need to try something different ... hence, the "Colossal Changes Here At The Castle"!

J. Kaye helped me with my "Crown/Tiara" rating picture. (AKA our ROYAL RATINGS, which I LOVE) and J. Kaye, being the person that she is volunteered to do it. She asked me what I wanted and I told her what that would be and Ta-Dahhh! She made it! But now, I need something different, I need halves and I would like the tiaras separate...maybe in a little box or something. Of course One (and a half) to Five! If you can do this for you, I would be will to compensate you in either money or a gift card. We'll talk about that! I may need a button too! But, the ratings is IMPORTANT ...
